From a recent announcement, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is exploring options for hybrid examination centers in order to provide local student’s support in rural and remote regions of the country, which reveals much about changes that can take place in the workforce due to digital technologies.

An examination of students’ affairs unit at ICAI has found that more than 37% of the unsuccessful attempts at Foundation level were recorded in the rural areas of the country.
The majority of the candidates have complained about the poor infrastructure on the day of the exam and insufficient preparatory guidance as the primary factors for their failure.

“Recently, I had to make a 70 km journey only to write a paper test. I’d be so glad if ICAI would arrange a hybrid hub just near my home in my district”, observed Anjali Mishra, a Foundation-level aspirant from Gaya.
A student from the rural backwaters of Odisha expressed, “Majority of us have no access to the ICAI support centers. These hubs will give us a feeling of being a part of the CA community.”
What’s Next?
ICAI is anticipated to come out with an official announcement on the matter by the end of June 2025 after carefully studying a feasibility report. If found favorable, the initiative will be carried out into action with July as the month of dispatch of implementation teams and August as the month of setting up the infrastructure.
