Now that the IPL 2025 league stage is almost over, the pubs across the countries are getting heated with the excitement from these last matches. The final four teams have revealed and one of them, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, is going to be talked about till the playoffs’ final day for sure. RCB’s splendid run of form and their hardcore fan base have moved the team to the semi-finals in such ease after years of consistent heartbreak. The main question is now: will they finally make it and get their hands on their first IPL trophy?
IPL 2025 Playoff Teams Confirmed
The teams that have qualified for the playoffs are as follows:
- Punjab Kings (1st place)
- Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2nd place)
- Gujarat Titans (3rd place)
- Mumbai Indians (4th place)
IPL 2025 Playoff Phase Schedule
Here is the full schedule for the IPL 2025 playoffs:
To get to the end match you need to win both the games. The matches are played at a neutral venue i.e. Narendra Modi Stadium at Ahmadabad. The first match of the playoffs will be Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 29 while the second match of the playoffs will be Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians on May 30.
To make their way into the Grand Finale a team needs to win both matches while the losing team of the first playoff match will play an eliminator match with the other winner in order to make it to the Grand Finale.
RCB’s Unbeaten Away Streak Becomes Legendary
How did RCB make it this far and became the title just fell on our tongues’ hope this year? It has been a combination of consistency and resilience.
The Bangalore-based team had a disappointing start to the ongoing season of IPL, but they managed to come back with their blistering form. Most recently, the six-wicket win over the opponent team, Lucknow Super Giants, became an elixir of life to RCB. They did not only secure the win but cracked the top score record while chasing down a target of 230 in an unstoppable manner, with Jitesh Sharma, the acting captain, taking the team to glory with a spectacular unbeaten 85-run contribution.
The win secured RCB a position in the IPL annals of a kind. By records, they are the first team that has managed to win all of their seven matches played away in one season.
A New Star Is Born: 14-Year-Old Hits IPL Century
While many of the teams are in an intense struggle for the right to participate in the playoffs, there was a young cricketer that made us all forget about their importance in the league’s final week. This player’s name is Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who, at the age of 14, killed it out of the park and scored a magnificent century just in 35 balls for the Rajasthan Royals.
He has now broken the record to become the youngest centurion in IPL history, and he’s even been referred to as the next big Indian cricket star by some of his fans.
Race For Orange Cap Tightens
The league’s round-robin stage over, the fight is on for who will win the Orange Cap, given to the batsman with the highest run tally for the season:
- Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 679 runs
- Shubman Gill (GT) – 649 runs
- Suryakumar Yadav (MI) – 640 runs
- Virat Kohli (RCB) – 602 runs
- Mitchell Marsh (LSG) – 560 runs
As few as two more games can still be left for some players on this list, thus, we can still anticipate changes to the top of the leaderboard.
IPL 2025 Final To Honor Armed Forces
It is not just another game of cricket that will be the highlight of the IPL final of this year. As a part of the tribute to Operation Sindoor, the BCCI will make the final match of the tournament on June 3, at Narendra Modi Stadium, a respectful gesture towards the Indian Armed Forces.
There will probably be a grand opening ceremony where there will be special performances and a theme focused on patriotism and national pride.
What Lies Ahead: A Chance At Redemption
The 2025 season has seemed nothing short of an amazing journey for the supporters of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The team has vented the demons on the way, mended the mid-season crisis, and is now only two victorious matches away from etching their names in history.
The most unlikely outcomes might be in the cards in cricket. Though the Liverpool of Indian cricket and the team from the West Zone are playing well, the semi-finals are likely to be engrossing and filled with several twists.
Nevertheless, one thing is beyond doubt, i.e., RCB has never been more prepared to win the title.
