One or two drinks you might think does not matter. Maybe you take it only on weekends. Maybe it is just “social.” However, your liver registers every time it happens.

Drinking is something that the liver does almost entirely. The consumption of even small amounts of alcohol pushes the liver into overdrive. Each drink of the spirit/cider gives back toxic leftovers, which eventually destroy liver cells.

Small hits of this sort will in the long run take their toll. What initially was occasional drinking turns out to be fat deposits, inflammation, and scars that will develop in the liver without your awareness of that process.

In your personal case, you might still feel the same level of control. However, your liver will struggle in the background as it tries to cope with the pace it is forced to go at.

Your liver won’t even tell you. You can’t so much as feel a pain unless the harm is totally irreversible and severe.
